Multiplayer and Co-op

Whether Transport Fever 3 can be played with other people.

What the publisher says about multiplayer

The goal has been to make Transport Fever 3 the best single player experience possible. Until that has been accomplished, it would be the wrong time to shift focus and split resources in order to introduce multiplayer in either a co-operative or competitive fashion.

Publisher’s official FAQ — checked 2026-10-01.

This states the publisher’s intention to prioritize single-player. It gives no date, roadmap or version number for multiplayer. It does not say multiplayer is impossible or cancelled.

What the store page lists

Steam records what a game supports as numbered categories. The full list for Transport Fever 3 is below, with the two entries that would be present if the game had multiplayer called out.

Categories present

  • Single-player #2
  • Steam Achievements #22
  • Full controller support #28
  • DualSense Controller Support #57
  • DualShock Controller Support #55
  • Includes level editor #17
  • Family Sharing #62

Categories not present

  • Multi-player #1
  • Co-op #9

Multi-player is category 1 and Co-op is category 9. Their absence, next to a present Single-player entry, is what makes the answer a documented negative rather than a guess.

Achievements are not multiplayer

Transport Fever 3 does have Steam Achievements, and that is sometimes mistaken for evidence of online play. Achievements are an account-level Steam feature: they track progress and unlock globally, and they work identically in a game that never contacts another player. Having achievements says nothing about whether the game has multiplayer.

What single-player means for the game

Transport Fever 3 uses a persistent simulation that runs while you play. Its systems include:

  • Districts simulate individual inhabitants, so a city you build keeps its population between sessions.
  • The economy runs on long chains, from farms through refineries and factories to consumers, meant to be tuned over many hours rather than matched in one sitting.
  • Vehicles age and need maintenance as you manage the transport network.

What this page does not claim

The FAQ says that shifting resources to co-operative or competitive multiplayer would be the wrong time until the single-player goal has been accomplished. That condition is not a promise to add multiplayer later. Steam’s category list separately documents the current single-player classification.
